Oncological outcomes of IBD-associated vs sporadic colorectal cancer in modern era: A matched case-control study
International Journal of Colorectal Disease Jun 21, 2018
Thicoïpé A, et al. - Researchers compared the prognosis of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD)-colorectal cancer (CRC) to sporadic CRC. From 2004 to 2014, consecutive patients operated for IBD-CRC were enrolled and matched with sporadic CRC (ratio 3:1) from the same center. They performed matching on gender, tumor stage, and location and period of surgery. Findings revealed that the prognosis of cancer correlated with IBD was similar to sporadic cancer in a case-control study of patients operated for CRC within the last decade.
