Oncological outcome of R1 vascular margin for mass-forming cholangiocarcinoma. A single center observational cohort analysis
HPB Sep 22, 2019
Torzilli G, Viganò L, Fontana A, et al. - Researchers conducted this investigation to explain the outcome of R1 surgery (margin < 1 mm) in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (MFCCC) patients, distinguishing resections of R1par and R1vasc. Between 2008 and 2016, patients undergoing resection for MFCCC were analyzed. In 59 patients (17 R1vasc), the study covered 84 resection areas. According to findings, R1vasc resection is not an appropriate treatment in patients with MFCCC. Following resection of R1vasc, local disease control and survival are smaller than after resection of R0 and comparable to resection of R1par. In otherwise unresectable patients, R1vasc resection could be considered solely to achieve resectability.
