Oncologic outcomes of patients with positive surgical margin after partial nephrectomy: A 25-year single institution experience
World Journal of Urology Mar 02, 2018
Petros FG, et al. - The oncologic outcomes and management of patients with a microscopic positive surgical margin (PSM) following partial nephrectomy (PN) for renal cell carcinoma (RCC) were determined. Patients who underwent PN had a low rate of microscopic PSM despite the complexity of the tumor. PSM was independently predicted by a higher nephrometry score, bilaterality, and previously treated RCC. PSM patients demonstrated worse survival, recurrence, and metastasis compared with patients having a negative surgical margin (NSM).
