Oncologic outcomes comparison of partial ureterectomy and radical nephroureterectomy for urothelial carcinoma
BMC Urology Dec 04, 2019
Li S, et al. - From 2007 to 2014, 255 people with upper tract urothelial carcinomas (UTUCs) who underwent partial ureterectomy (PU) or radical nephroureterectomy (RNU) in a hospital database were examined in order to evaluate the oncological outcomes between PU and RNU. A shorter survival span was suffered by individuals with a high pT stage (pT2β4). No important variations in cancer-specific survival (CSS) between PU and RNU were noted. In the sub-analysis, for pTaβ1 or pT2β4 tumor individuals, CSS for RNU and PU showed no notable variation. Thus, in oncologic outcomes, PU is non-inferior to RNU. Moreover, in comparison with RNU, PU is generally identified with less invasive and superior renal function preservation. Thus, for particular people with UTUCs, PU would be rational.
