Oncologic outcome of colorectal cancer patients over age 80: A propensity score-matched analysis
International Journal of Colorectal Disease Apr 05, 2018
Oh BY, et al. - Authors attempted to compare the oncologic outcomes in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients in order to determine the role of old age in the prognosis of CRC, using 80 as the dividing point in individuals who underwent radical surgery from 2000 to 2011, aged ≥ 80 and < 80 years old. Data displayed considerably lower disease-free survival (DFS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) for elderly patients compared to those for young patients before matching. After matching, DFS and CCS did not differ prominently between the 2 groups. The similar oncologic outcome to young patients and age did not serve as an independent prognostic factor among elderly patients aged ≥ 80 years with CRC.
