Omega 3 fatty acid supplementation after myocardial infarction: A systematic review and meta-analysis
BMC Cardiovascular Disorders Jun 10, 2019
Popoff F, et al. - Researchers investigated how mortality, morbidity, and adverse events in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) are influenced by the intake of Omega-3 Fatty acids, via this systematic review and meta-analysis of 10 randomized controlled trials with 24,414 patients identified from MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library. The impacts of omega 3 fatty acids were compared to those of placebo or no treatment on all-cause mortality, cardiovascular mortality, new AMI, stroke, the requirement for therapeutic angioplasty or By-pass, new diagnosis of cancer and incidence of adverse events. As per the evidence gained, patient important outcomes are probably not benefitted by omega 3 fatty-acid supplementation in adult patients with AMI.
