Olfactory identification deficit and its relationship with hedonic traits in patients with first-episode schizophrenia and individuals with schizotypy
Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry Feb 15, 2018
Zou LQ, et al. - This study was planned to compare the olfactory identification ability of first-episode schizophrenia patients with schizotypy individuals. Researchers also examined the relationship between olfactory identification impairments and hedonic traits. Results demonstrated poorer olfactory identification ability among both the schizophrenia and schizotypy groups compared to controls. The impairment was significantly correlated with reduced pleasure experiences. Findings thereby supported olfactory identification impairment as a trait marker for schizophrenia.
