Olfactory dysfunction and cognition among older adults in the United States

Choi JS, et al. - Authors evaluated the relationship between olfactory dysfunction and cognition in a nationally representative sample of older adults in the United States. As per the data, an independent association of objectively measured olfactory dysfunction with cognitive impairment was seen. These findings were consistent with previous studies. Experts noted that for cognitive impairment objective olfactory tests were useful as an indicator as compared with self-reported olfactory dysfunction, which was an uncertain indicator.
