Older ovarian cancer survivors report lower long-term health-related quality of life than younger survivors: A study from the population-based profiles registry
Gynecologic Oncology Feb 20, 2019
van Walree IC, et al. - The long-term health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of older ovarian cancer survivors was compared to both an age-matched normative population and to younger survivors. Further, researchers determined the differential effect of chemotherapy on HRQoL between older and younger survivors. Older ovarian cancer survivors displayed lower HRQoL scores than younger survivors compared to an age-matched normative population. Physical and cognitive functioning were most clinically affected items. Among older survivors, dyspnea and fatigue were reported in addition. The effect of chemotherapy on HRQoL seems to be moderated by age.
