Older ovarian cancer survivors report lower long-term health-related quality of life than younger survivors: A study from the population-based profiles registry
Gynecologic Oncology Apr 28, 2019
van Walree IC, et al. - Researchers compared the long-term health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of older ovarian cancer survivors (n = 348), registered in the Dutch population-based Eindhoven Cancer Registry, to that observed in an age-matched normative population and younger survivors. Additionally, they compared the differential impact of chemotherapy on HRQoL between older and younger survivors. Lower HRQoL scores were reported by older ovarian cancer survivors than younger survivors, in comparison with an age-matched normative population. The influence of chemotherapy on HRQoL was seemed to be moderated by age. Better physical functioning and less pain and insomnia were observed in older survivors treated with chemotherapy while younger survivors experienced the opposite.
