Off-pump vs on-pump redo coronary artery bypass grafting: A propensity score analysis of long term follow up
The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery May 17, 2019
Rufa MI, et al. - In the setting of a high volume off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) center, researchers analyzed the early and long-term results after redo-CABG with special focus on the feasibility and safety of the off-pump technique. They identified 304 patients who underwent isolated redo-CABG (179 = on-pump redo-CABG, 125 = off-pump redo-CABG) from January 2006 to June 2015. After 1:1 matching, 108 pairs were selected for each on-pump redo-CABG and the off-pump redo-CABG group. Outcomes revealed less postoperative complications, the achievement of faster recovery and better long-term survival among off-pump redo-CABG patients. This supports the safety and feasibility of off-pump redo-CABG.
