Occupational exposure to pesticides are associated with fixed airflow obstruction in middle-age
Thorax Oct 12, 2017
Alif SM, et al. - This study used postbronchodilator spirometry to elucidate the links between occupational exposures and fixed airflow obstruction. Findings demonstrated an association between exposures to pesticides and herbicides and development of fixed airflow obstruction and chronic bronchitis. Non-asthmatics showed a link between biological dust exposure and fixed airflow obstruction. Overall, an attenuation in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) burden may be achieved via minimising occupational exposure to these agents.
