Obstetric outcomes in women with early bulky cervical cancer downstaged by neoadjuvant chemotherapy to allow for fertility-sparing surgery: A meta-analysis and metaregression
International Journal of Gynecological Cancer Apr 30, 2018
Laios A, et al. -Researchers sought to ascertain the most accurate fertility outcomes for women with early-stage cervical cancer (eCC) treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) followed by fertility-sparing surgery (FSS) and to identify potential factors which favored fertility. They undertook a systematic search of MEDLINE, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Database to locate studies reporting obstetric outcomes of eCC women treated with NAC followed by FSS. Data analysis revealed live births in 4 of 10 eCC women who desire fertility via this strategy, and their risk of miscarriage is noted to be low. Of 10 live births, 3 will be premature.
