Obstetric outcomes in patients with primary thrombotic and obstetric antiphospholipid syndrome and its relation to the antiphospholipid antibody profile
Lupus Jun 02, 2019
Högdén A, et al. - Researchers examined obstetric outcomes in primary thrombotic or obstetric antiphospholipid syndrome patients in addition to determining the relation of their antiphospholipid antibody profile with the outcomes. Further, they compared their outcomes to outcomes of a control population. Outcomes of 30 pregnant women with primary antiphospholipid syndrome treated at Karolinska University Hospital Solna, Sweden were compared with the outcomes of all pregnancies in Stockholm County during the same period. Outcomes revealed higher risk for adverse pregnancy outcomes among patients with primary antiphospholipid syndrome, especially those with obstetric antiphospholipid syndrome and triple antibody positivity, even under antithrombotic treatment. In high-risk patients, outcomes can be further improved with more frequent antenatal controls.
