Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder symptoms as a risk factor for postpartum depressive symptoms
Archives of Women's Mental Health Jul 20, 2019
van Broekhoven KEM, et al. - Researchers examined a cohort of 1,427 women to determine how obsessive-compulsive personality disorder (OCPD) trait symptoms may be associated with trajectories of postpartum depressive symptoms. Women were followed-up from late pregnancy until 12 months after giving birth. Using growth mixture modeling with five repeated assessments, they identified three postpartum depressive symptom trajectories: low symptoms (92%), increasing-decreasing symptoms (inverted u-shape) (5%), and increasing symptoms (3%). Adjusting for age, educational level, unplanned pregnancy, previous depressive episode (s), and parity, OCPD trait symptoms were correlated with a greater likelihood of the trajectories increasing-decreasing symptoms and increasing symptoms vs the reference trajectory (low symptoms).
