Obsessive–compulsive disorder and the risk of subsequent mental disorders: A community study of adolescents and young adults
Depression and Anxiety Mar 04, 2018
Hofer PD, et al. - Researchers here examined associations between prior obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) and a broad range of subsequent mental disorders. They, in addition, simulated proportions of new onsets of mental disorders that could potentially be attributed to prior OCD, assuming a causal relationship. In this study, strong evidence was gained suggesting that among adolescents and young adults, prior OCD is associated with an increased risk of subsequent onset of bipolar disorders, bulimia nervosa, dysthymia, generalized anxiety disorder, and social phobia.
