Observed differences between males and females in surgically treated carpal tunnel syndrome among non-manual workers: A sensitivity analysis of findings from a large population study
The Annals of Occupational Hygiene Mar 24, 2018
Farioli A, et al. - Researchers analyzed surgically treated cases of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) to assess if differences among males and females in CTS epidemiology might be attributable to segregation with respect to occupational biomechanical exposures or differential access to care by sex. Findings did not support this hypothesis. They suggested that the causal pathway between sex and CTS might involve more determinants viz. hormonal factors, anthropometric characteristics, and non-occupational exposure to biomechanical overload (e.g. household tasks).
