Obesity and type 2 diabetes are important risk factors underlying previously undiagnosed cirrhosis in general practice: A cross-sectional study using transient elastography

Harman DJ, et al. - The physicians used transient elastography to screen at-risk individuals in general practice for undetected cirrhosis, and to investigate the risk factors underlying these cases. Findings indicated that existing estimates of prevalence were likely to be grossly underestimated. For cirrhosis within both alcohol users and diabetics, obesity was an important risk factor.
