Obesity and risk of hearing loss: A prospective cohort study
Clinical Nutrition Apr 02, 2019
Hu H, et al. - In this investigation, researchers studied if obesity was associated with hearing loss in a large Japanese working population, and if metabolic phenotype was associated with hearing loss. The study involved 48,549 employees (aged 20-64 years) who were at baseline free from hearing loss. To examine the risk of hearing loss linked with body mass index (BMI) and metabolic phenotype, Cox proportional hazards regression was used. According to findings, an increased risk of hearing loss was linked to overweight and obesity, and additional risk could be related to metabolically unhealthy obesity.
