Obesity and cancer death in White and Black adults: A prospective cohort study

Brown JC, Yang S, Mire EF, et al. - A diverse cohort of adults was examined in the Pennington Center Longitudinal Study to report the impact of race on the association between obesity and cancer death.
An analysis of 18,296 adults; 35.0% were male and 34.3% were Black, followed-up for 14.3 years.
White men and women exhibited an elevated risk of cancer death in relation to having obesity.
In contrast, having obesity was related to a decreased risk of cancer death among Black men and did not impact risk among Black women.
