Obese osteoarthritis patients exhibit an inflammatory synovial fibroblast phenotype, which is regulated by the long non coding RNA MALAT1
Arthritis & Rheumatology Nov 14, 2019
Nanus DE, Wijesinghe SN, Pearson MJ, et al. - Synovium was obtained from normal-weight hip fracture non-OA persons (n = 6) and from normal-weight (n = 8) and obese hip OA people (n = 8) in order to recognize lncRNAs related to the inflammatory phenotype of obese OA synovial fibroblasts and investigate their expression and function. It was found that synovial fibroblasts from obese OA individuals showed an inflammatory phenotype. Moreover, in obese OA people, MALAT1 lncRNA might mediate joint inflammation.
