Nurse practitioner led pain management the day after caesarean section: A randomised controlled trial and follow-up study

International Journal of Nursing Studies Sep 08, 2017

Anthony S, et al. - The clinicians compared immediate-release oxycodone integrated with supportive educational strategies to controlled-release oxycodone. Furthermore, a follow-up study strived to investigate pain over 3 months. They demonstrated that following caesarean section, a nurse practitioner intervention could improve pain management. The outcomes highlighted the influence of biological, psychological, and social factors on acute pain. Therefore, this study reinforced the need for a biopsychosocial approach to acute pain management following caesarean delivery.
