NSAID consumption and risk of acute myeloid leukemia: A national population-based case-control study
Cancer Management and Research Nov 07, 2018
Østgård LSG, et al. - In this case-control study, researchers investigated if the risk of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) increases in correlation with inflammation and decreases with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) use. They analyzed 3,053 patients with AML that was diagnosed between 2000 and 2013, who were registered in the Danish National Acute Leukemia Registry, and 30,530 population control participants who were matched according to sex and age. Findings supported the recent findings indicating no association of autoimmune diseases and infections with de novo AML. In addition, the investigators identified no reduction in the risk of AML in correlation with NSAID use.
