Novel viral markers and the prediction of off‐treatment relapse in chronic hepatitis B patients: A systematic review
Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Apr 08, 2021
Jaroenlapnopparat A, Chayanupatkul M, Tangkijvanich P., et al. - A systematic review was performed after searching Medline/Pubmed database using text terms related to HBcrAg, RNA, nucleos(t)ide analogues (NA), discontinuation, and relapse to assess what markers can be used to predict relapse in hepatitis B after NA discontinuation. Researchers included 16 studies for the analysis. The discriminating abilities in the prediction of off‐treatment relapse of each test were improved by combining HBcrAg with hepatitis B virus RNA (HBV) RNA or HBsAg. The findings suggested that individuals with double‐negative HBcrAg and HBV RNA at end‐of‐treatment had low risks of relapse and could be considered for NA discontinuation.
