Novel risk genes identified in a genome-wide association study for coronary artery disease in patients with type 1 diabetes

Cardiovascular Diabetology May 02, 2018

Charmet R, et al. - During this two-stage genome-wide association study, authors investigated the low frequency and common genetic variations linked with coronary artery disease in patients with type 1 diabetes. Yielded data identified 3 novel candidate genes for coronary artery disease in the subgroup of patients affected with type 1 diabetes: CDK18rs138760780, FAM189A2 rs12344245 and PKD1 rs116092985. Data inferred that genetic variations at the ANKS1A, COL4A2 and APOE loci, previously found related to coronary artery disease in the general population, could demonstrate stronger effects in patients with type 1 diabetes.
