Novel observations of female genital anatomy in classic bladder exstrophy using three-dimensional MRI reconstruction
The Journal of Urology May 04, 2018
Benz KS, et al. - Authors presented novel quantitative anatomical data in females with classic bladder exstrophy prior to primary closure. The majority of the clitoral body was seen anterior to the pelvic attachment in females, contrary to males. For these patients, this had surgical and embryologic implications. In classic bladder exstrophy female, the distance between the anal verge and vaginal introitus was greater than in controls. Nonetheless, when compared to controls, the ratios of anterior cavernosa to posterior (pelvic rami-associated) cavernosa was much larger in classic bladder exstrophy patients.
