Novel HLA-DRB1 alleles contribute risk for disease susceptibility in primary biliary cholangitis
Digestive and Liver Diseases May 28, 2021
Li Y, Liu X, Wang Y, et al. - Researchers explore the connection between human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-DRB1 alleles and primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) in families and sporadic cases to assess the genetic components of the disease. They conducted whole exome sequencing in three PBC families. According to results, ten variants harboured the HLA-DRB1 gene linked to PBC. Familial aggregation analysis showed that HLA-DRB1 was identified as a candidate gene for the risk of disease course. Because amino acid variations are important for peptide-binding properties, they are a major component of MHC association with PBC.
