Novel gene and network associations found for lymphoblastic leukemia using case-control and family-based studies in multi-ethnic populations
Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention Sep 07, 2017
Nakka P, et al. – Experts carried out this work to detect whether genetic heterogeneity affected acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) susceptibility and how interactions within and among genes containing ALL–associated variants influenced ALL risk. Loci associated with ALL that was missed by genome–wide association (GWA) studies such as MEIS1 was unveiled by gene and network analysis. ALL-associated loci did not appear to interact directly with each other to influence ALL risk. However, it appeared to influence leukemogenesis through multiple, complex pathways.
