Nonsurgical therapies for resected and unresected pancreatic cancer in Europe and USA in 2003–2014: A large international population-based study
International Journal of Cancer Oct 31, 2018
Huang L, et al. - Researchers analyzed population-based data from multiple European national cancer registries and the US Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER)-18 database during 2003-2014 to analyze temporal real-world trends and geographical variations in the application rates of chemotherapy and radiotherapy for the management of resected and unresected pancreatic cancer (PaC) in Europe and the US. A total of 141,533 PaC patients were analyzed. During the last decade, an increase in the application rates of chemotherapy, but not radiotherapy, for PaC was reported in Europe and the US. Findings revealed low treatment rates and strong disparities in the uptake across countries. This calls for standardization in PaC treatment to improve patient care.
