Nonlinear association between bone mineral density and all-cause mortality: The Dong-gu study
Osteoporosis International Jul 22, 2018
Choi CK, et al. - Authors assessed the previously reported nonlinear association between bone mineral density (BMD) and mortality in Asians. Findings suggested that there was a variation in the association between BMD and mortality by gender. All-cause mortality in males was predicted by both high and low BMD. The hazard ratios in females in the < 2.5th percentile group was 2.33 vs the 75th to 95th percentile group, while males had a 3.89-fold higher risk. On the contrary, in males, the correlation between lumbar spine BMD and mortality was less evident with no association in females.
