Hong Y, et al. - The connection between cough strength and outcomes was comprehensively explored in elderly patients who received noninvasive ventilation (NIV) due to acute respiratory failure caused by pneumonia. The findings shed light on the correlation between no/weak cough with NIV failure and death in hospital, in pneumonia patients ≥65 years old. Cautious utility of NIV was recommended in no/weak cough patients.
