Noncontrast computed tomography signs as predictors of hematoma expansion, clinical outcome, and response to tranexamic acid in acute intracerebral hemorrhage
Stroke Nov 27, 2019
Law ZK, Ali A, Krishnan K, et al. - In this TICH-2 (Tranexamic acid for IntraCerebral Hemorrhage-2), a prospective randomized controlled trial investigating the effectiveness and safety of tranexamic acid in acute intracerebral hemorrhage, experts examined the value of these noncontrast CT signs in prognosticating hematoma expansion and functional outcome in this cohort of intracerebral hemorrhage. A total of 2,325 were recruited. It was discovered that hematoma expansion was prognosticated by blend sign, black hole sign, and hypodensities whilst black hole sign, hypodensities, and island signs foretold the poor functional outcome. However, a better response to tranexamic acid was not prognosticated by noncontrast CT signs.
