Nonalcoholic fatty pancreas disease is related independently to the severity of acute pancreatitis
European Journal of Gastroenterology & Hepatology Jul 16, 2019
Xie J, et al. - In this investigation involving 246 patients, researchers explored the connection between nonalcoholic fatty pancreas disease and the severity of acute pancreatitis (AP). Compared to those in the mild AP group, the mean pancreatic attenuation and pancreas-to-spleen attenuation ratio (P/S ratio) were significantly lower in the moderately severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) and SAP groups. In patients with AP, the pancreatic attenuation level and P/S ratio are independently correlated with severity, mortality and systemic complications.
