Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease is associated with decreased lung function
Liver International Dec 05, 2018
Lee CH, et al. - By conducting cross-sectional and longitudinal analyses, researchers clarified the link between nonalcoholic liver disease and lung function in the general population. Participants without hepatic and respiratory diseases underwent regular health examinations, including hepatic sonography and spirometry, with a follow-up of at least 3 years. They found that nonalcoholic fatty liver disease was not correlated with accelerated lung function decline in the propensity score-matched cohort but was related to decreased lung function at baseline. Hepatic fibrosis, however, was significantly linked to rapid forced vital capacity decline.
