Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and albuminuria: A systematic review and meta-analysis
European Journal of Gastroenterology & Hepatology Aug 03, 2018
Wijarnpreecha K, et al. - The researchers carried out a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the risk of albuminuria among patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). They conducted a comprehensive literature review utilizing the Medline and Embase database through January 2018 to identify studies that compared the risk of albuminuria among patients with NAFLD compared to those without NAFLD. As compared to patients without NAFLD, the risk of albuminuria among patients with NAFLD was significantly higher. Particularly in patients with NAFLD, the medical practitioners should pay more attention to the early detection and subsequent treatment of individuals with microalbuminuria.
