Tanizaki S, et al. - The efficacy of management with pericardiocentesis or subxiphoid pericardial window was evaluated in hemodynamically unstable patients who reach the hospital alive with blunt traumatic pericardial effusion. Researchers reviewed a consecutive series of patients with pericardial effusion following blunt trauma who arrived at Fukui Prefectural Hospital between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2017. As per findings, non-surgical management may be a feasible option for treatment of hemodynamically unstable patients who reach hospital alive with blunt pericardial effusion.
