Non-surgical correction of cryptotia and the analysis of treatment time and other influence factors
International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology Nov 15, 2019
Wang D, Jiang H, Yang Q, et al. - In this investigation involving 35 patients with 49 cryptotias, researchers analyzed associations between posttreatment outcomes of non-surgical correction for cryptotia and treatment time and other influence factors. Data reported that 29 cryptotias (23 patients) were successfully managed. According to results, initiation of treatment time < 6 months and duration of treatment per day > 5 h benefit for posttreatment outcomes. Findings suggested that individuals wearing the device under 6 months old would have earlier onset time and effect stabilization time. Complete bilateral symmetry in unilateral patients is difficult to achieve. The adjustable devices can be conveniently removed and equipped for auricles with different sizes.
