Spijkerman R, et al. – The experts undertook this study to examine the outcome of selective non–operative management (NOM) for penetrating splenic injuries. For penetrating splenic injury (PSI), spleen–preserving surgical therapy was a feasible treatment modality and was not associated with increased mortality. Moreover, a selected group of patients could be treated without any surgical intervention at all.
