Non-obese visceral adiposity is associated with the risk of atherosclerosis in Japanese patients with rheumatoid arthritis: A cross-sectional study

Yoshida T, et al. - Researchers ascertained the relationship between obesity and/or visceral adiposity and the risk for atherosclerosis in Japanese rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. Increased visceral adiposity was seen in RA patients. They noted an association between the increased visceral adiposity and a high prevalence of atherosclerotic of plaques. An especially higher risk for atherosclerosis was seen in non-obese RA patients who have visceral adiposity.
