Non-immediate-reading skin tests and prolonged challenges in non-immediate hypersensitivity to beta-lactams in children

Pediatric Allergy and Immunology Oct 23, 2017

Lezmi G, et al. - Late- and hyper-late-reading skin tests (ST) and of prolonged drug provocation tests (DPT) were appraised as diagnostic tools in children reporting non-immediate reactions to beta-lactams (BLs). Findings demonstrated that additional hyper-late-reading of ST enhanced their positivity but their overall sensitivity remained weak, especially in non-severe cases. Data also indicated the safety of prolonged DPT and potential for improving DPT performance.
