Non-HDL-cholesterol to HDL-cholesterol ratio is a better predictor of new-onset non-alcoholic fatty liver disease than non-HDL-cholesterol: A cohort study
Lipids in Health and Disease Aug 26, 2018
Wang K, et al. - In this population-based perspective cohort study, researchers ascertained if the nonHDLc/HDLc ratio (in which nonHDLc is defined as total cholesterol minus HDLc) could independently predict new-onset non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in Chinese population by analyzing data of 3,374 Chinese adults without liver diseases or metabolic disturbances. According to the findings, the nonHDLc/HDLc ratio was an independent predictor of NAFLD and a stronger predictor than nonHDLc in the Chinese population, which might be a better guide for early identification of people at risk of NAFLD.
