Non-atopic eczema in elderly women – Impact of air pollution and genes
The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology Oct 19, 2018
Hüls A, et al. - Researchers examined the correlations between air pollution, atopy and eczema in adulthood via analyzing 834 women from the Study on the influence of Air pollution on Lung Function, Inflammation and Ageing (SALIA) cohort in Germany. Increased odds of incident eczema were noted in significant association with exposures to oxides of nitrogen (NO2 and NOx) and particulate matter (PM2.5and PM10). Slightly more noticeable associations were evident with non-atopic eczema. Carriers of fewer risk alleles for atopic eczema displayed stronger associations with air pollution.
