Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is associated with stroke severity and progression of brainstem infarctions

Li H, et al. - Physicians designed this study to evaluate the association between a specific stroke subgroup, brainstem infarctions (BSIs), and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). They also assessed whether NAFLD was an independent risk factor in patients with BSIs. When evaluating the severity and progression of acute BSIs, NAFLD was found to be a potential risk factor. This association was independent of classic risk factors and metabolic syndrome features.
