Nomograms for predicting long-term overall survival and cancer-specific survival in lip squamous cell carcinoma: A population-based study
Cancer Medicine May 26, 2019
Hu CY, et al. - In this study with lip squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) cases (n=4175), researchers sought to develop and validate two nomograms for predicting the long-term overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS) in LSCC. They identified these cases from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database. A training cohort and a validation cohort were used. Risk factors for both OS and CSS were age at diagnosis, marital status, sex, race, American Joint Committee on Cancer stage, surgery status, and radiotherapy status, as revealed in multivariate analyses. The nomograms displayed a good performance. Both nomograms showed good 3-, 5-, and 8-year net benefits, as revealed in the decision curve analyses of nomograms. This study offers the first ever validated LSCC prognosis nomograms for OS and CSS.
