Nomogram for predicting para-aortic lymph node metastases in patients with cervical cancer
Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics Jul 13, 2018
Wang W, et al. - In this study, a nomogram was constructed to forecast para-aortic lymph node (PALN) metastases in cervical cancer. Researchers identified 1,903 patients with stage IA–IVA cervical cancer who had definitive radiotherapy and assigned patients who were diagnosed during 2011-2015 to a model development cohort (n=1,193) and others to a validation cohort (n=710). They constructed nomogram including five factors (histology, tumor size, bilateral pelvic lymph node (PLN) metastases, common iliac lymph node metastases and PLN convergence or muscle involvement) that showed good prognostic accuracy in the model development cohort. Thereby suggesting it be a robust tool for predicting PALN metastases in patients with cervical cancer. Using the nomogram could help physicians decide whether prophylactic extended-field radiotherapy should be performed for patients with cervical cancer.
