Nomogram-based preoperative score for predicting clinical outcome in unilateral primary aldosteronism
Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism Sep 13, 2020
Yang Y, Williams TA, Song Y, et al. - In the present study, the researchers sought to develop and validate a nomogram-based preoperative score (NBPS) to anticipate clinical outcomes after unilateral adrenalectomy for unilateral primary aldosteronism (UPA). The NBPS was established in an Asian cohort by integrating predictors independently linked to hypertension remission after unilateral adrenalectomy for UPA and validated in a Caucasian cohort. It was noted that 97 out of 150 (64.7%) patients achieved complete clinical success following unilateral adrenalectomy in the training cohort and 57 out of 165 (34.5%) in the validation cohort. Findings suggested that the NBPS is useful for predicting the clinical outcome for patients with UPA, particularly in the Asian population.
