Nodal response after 46 Gy of intensity-modulated radiotherapy is associated with human papillomavirus–related oropharyngeal carcinoma
The Laryngoscope Jun 22, 2018
Dronkers EAC, et al. - In patients treated according to the Rotterdam protocol, authors evaluated the impact of human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated T1-2 node-positive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) on nodal response, recurrent disease, and survival. Results demonstrated an association of HPV-related OPSCCs with the complete nodal response after 46 Gy of intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT). A significantly better overall survival was demonstrated by patients with full regional control (pN0) after IMRT and subsequent neck dissection, but smoking was seen to negatively interact with this effect.
