No association of proton pump inhibitor use with fasting or postload glycaemia in patients with cardiovascular disease: A cross-sectional retrospective study
International Journal of Medical Sciences Sep 19, 2017
Kruszelnicka O, et al. - This research ascertained if proton pump inhibitor (PPI) usage correlated with altered glycaemia in patients with the cardiovascular (CV) disease. No link was seen between the PPI use with altered glycaemia in the study cohort. Unchanged glucose tolerance regardless of PPI usage could arise from simultaneous activation of pathways, which counteracted the putative PPI-induced incretin-like effect.
