No association between smoking and sentinel lymph node metastasis and survival in cutaneous melanoma
Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology Aug 03, 2019
Tejera-Vaquerizo A, et al. - In patients with cutaneous melanoma, researchers examined if smoking correlated with a higher rate of sentinel lymph node (SLN) metastasis and worse survival using a propensity score matching analysis. They included 762 patients from the melanoma database of the Instituto Valenciano de Oncología whose smoking status was known and who had SLN biopsy between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2016 were studied. According to this retrospective cohort study, smoking in patients with cutaneous melanoma does not affect SLN metastasis or survival.
