Schmitt A, Cardinale C, Loundou A, et al. - Given that N ₂ O/O ₂ could be useful in the treatment of the pain in the first‐trimester termination of pregnancy performed under local anaesthesia and/or minimal sedation (FTOPL), researchers conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the usefulness of N ₂ O/O ₂ to reduce pain in FTOPL. All studies comparing the use of N2O/O2 vs placebo in the management of pain during FTOPL during the first trimester were involved. For perioperative pain, there was a significant difference in favour of N ₂ O/O ₂. However, there was no difference in postoperative pain or secondary effects (nausea, vomiting). N ₂ O/O ₂ decreases the pain of FTOPL. N ₂ O/O ₂ could be suggested in FTOPL.
